T O P I C R E V I E WGot Gemini?Just curious. I read a comment in another thread about (I think it was writesomething) someone who was attracted to someone and they didn't know why because the inter-planet/point intra-aspects were weak. So when they looked at the house overlays, it showed a lot more and kinda-sorta explained the attraction. So my question is, if you had to put in numbers how much weight you would give to inter-planet/point aspects vs. synastry house overlays, how much would you give each?As I was looking back at some of my synastries, I always wondered why I used to be attracted to a woman when I synastry was not so impressive. So I just chalked it up to it being based on my physical attraction to her. But now, when I look at the house overlays, it explains why we got along together so well and why we were attracted to each other.I would say in this case, the house overlays are probably a LOT more influential than the planet/point synastry is. Maybe 70:30.------------------Virgo Asc 6˚& Mars 0˚Gemini Sun 24˚Libra Moon 14˚(conjunct Pluto 0˚ in 2nd house)Gemini Mercury 25˚Cancer Venus 29˚And yes, i'm a guy!deuxantares50/50For me, the planets/points are the characters and the aspects show the action. The house overlay shows the setting/atmosphere. So, they are of equal importance. alvarella777I'll put it 80:20 - but in the opposite way, 80% importance for the inter-aspects, and not more than 20% to the house overlays - and this is based on a very simple thought: I don't trust the given birth times of people so much! Many people just "asked their mother" or something, or, if you meet someone, they give you vague information ... I honestly don't know HOW and WHEN to ask a man I meet about his exact birthdate - since I don't want to give a crude or crazy impression of being a "weirdo", I am satisfied with vague info like "somewhen in the early evening" or sth like that. I never insist that he'll do some research on that! ;-) And even my OWN mum admits that the time noted on my birth certificate might differ from the real birth time up to 15 minutes ... SO: I guess NO ONE ne can be 100% sure about his/her house-cusps anyway ... that's why I don't lay too much emphasis on these.GemLoverThat could be my posts that you read. I was trying to figure out the strange attraction that I have to Jason Orange of Take That. The point was that I don't find him particularly appealing to my personal tastes and I don't feel any emotional connection either, but somehow he makes me think of sex. Well it turned out we have probably the least aspected synastry I've ever seen in my life, BUT his Mars is in my 8th house. So, before this, I wouldn't have given the house overlays much importance. I've always considered them as 'context', ie the areas of life in which the aspects play out. But now that I've seen it highlighted without any aspects to distract from it, I now see that it's very important - at least if the overlays are in important/relevant houses. libraschoice7 Before I came to the forum I would have said that inter-planet aspects had more much weight...but after looking at different synastry charts and reading about other peoples' experiences, it seems that house overlays could give explanation to that unusual attraction or bond that you might have with someone(and feeling baffled by it)...and could actually show the true meaning of a relationship. How the feelings are really being conveyed between the two.------------------Sun in LibraMoon in CancerJupiter in CancerVenus in VirgoMars in CancerAscendant in Cancer"I was born when she kissed me. I died when she left me. I lived a few weeks while she loved me"deuxantaresUnless someone astro-savvy has deliberately noted the info on paper during the actual birth, I usually assume that the birth time may be off by as much as 30-45 minutes. In a synastry I adjust the house overlay forwards and backwards to give allowance for possible discrepancy in birth times. When the birth time is unknown, I just focus on the inter-planet connections. This also means I don't have a carved-in-stone rule for orbs. This is why I don't see and interpret a chart in bits and pieces or focus only on things that stand out the most, I go for the whole picture and try to sense a total "vibes" or energy exchange. alvarella777deuxantares, i agree with you to 100%. i might be stricter in one regard though: with orbs, i usually take only tight ones into consideration - with outer planets such as pluto and uranus max. 3 dg, for instance.i also don't like the idea of changing the house system or switching to draconic charts or applying any other "alternative method" - until a chart DOES tell us what we WANT to read. in fact, you can shuffle a chart and change the methods so often that you can find proof for ANYTHING, if you just try hard enough...;-)amowlsComposite charts can also show attraction when there isn't a lot of synastry going on between the two of you.In general I tend to weigh aspects more than houses, unless they are angular houses.
